Custody

CUSTODY

As a parent, you want the best for your child. I understand the importance of the parent-child relationship, and I am here to help you protect your child’s best interests.

Child Custody in Alabama

Child custody laws in the state of Alabama are focused on promoting the welfare of the child and allowing both parents to play a role in the child’s development. Although our courts often award joint legal and/or physical custody, they can also award sole legal and sole physical custody when the circumstances dictate it.

In some cases, parents are able to determine the custody arrangement on their own through negotiations or through mediation during their case. In these circumstances, I focus on creating a document that is clear, easy to understand, and helps both parents understand their rights and responsibilities. When parents cannot agree on a suitable custody arrangement outside of court, the court will intervene and make the decision after a trial. In those circumstances, I will focus on preparing your case for trial so that your side of the story is effectively presented to the court.
