LAURA SEGERS FIKES

Laura Segers Fikes is a licensed, experienced attorney serving clients throughout Tuscaloosa and West Alabama.


Originally from Homewood, Laura first moved to Tuscaloosa in 2001. In 2005, Laura received a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and English from the University of Alabama. She went on to study business and law at the University of Alabama, where she received both an MBA and her Juris Doctorate in 2009. Laura graduated from the National Criminal Defense College in 2013.


Laura has also been the recipient of several awards and honors for her work representing clients in West Alabama. In 2022, Laura was chosen as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an elite group of highly skilled negotiators and litigators who represent individuals in all facets of family law. In Alabama, there are less than twenty-five attorneys who have met the qualifications to be a fellow. Laura also received Merit Awards in 2016 and 2021 for outstanding representation and performance from the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.


Laura is a proud member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Alabama Volunteer Lawyers Program, the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Alabama State Bar. She was the 2019-2020 President of the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association. Prior to being president, Laura served as Vice President and Secretary of the same organization. She has also been an active participant in the Domestic Relations Committee for the Tuscaloosa County Bar.


In addition to her involvement in various law-related organizations, Laura is also active in the Tuscaloosa community. She serves on the Board of the Tuscaloosa Community Dancers and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Tuscaloosa. She serves as a board member for Family Counseling Services in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which provides counseling services and specialized programming to promote mental, emotional, and social well-being for the West Alabama community. In addition, she is a current board member and past president of the PRIDE of Tuscaloosa Executive Board, a non-profit dedicated to providing evidence-based drug and alcohol prevention services to the youth of Tuscaloosa County and surrounding areas.


When she is not at work, Laura loves spending time with her husband, daughter, cats, and dog. Her hobbies include traveling, dancing, hiking, scuba diving, and cooking.
